Ripples & Waves – Level Progression
Master these foundational movements before moving to the big games. Start on pockets, progress to knees, then standing. Always emphasize smooth, controlled motion and listening to the teacher. Pockets → Knees → Stand (no jumping on stand).
TEKS Focus: Cooperation in group activities (K.2A, 1-4.2A) • Controlled movement & listening • Rhythmic timing with the group.
Character Focus: Self-control and teamwork. Learning to make small, gentle waves together teaches that every person’s contribution matters and that we must move as one group.
5E:
- 🔥 Engage: “Can we make the parachute look like the ocean?”
- 🔍 Explore: Try ripples then bigger waves at each level (pockets, knees, stand).
- 📖 Explain: “Small movements = big effect when we work together.” Review rules. Smooth controlled motion, no jumping.
- 🚀 Elaborate: Add speed changes or “freeze the waves” challenges. Progress levels only when whole group is ready.
- ✅ Evaluate: Can the whole class make smooth, even waves at standing level without jumping? Listen for group synchronization.
