Students work together as one big team to complete as many silly challenge cards as possible in the shortest time. The goal is cooperation, communication, and laughter — not competition against each other. How to Play On the start signal (music or “Go!”), every student quickly picks up one card. Students read their card and complete the challenge as fast as they can. Some cards can be done alone. Most cards require help from classmates — students must ask others for help. When a challenge is finished, the student brings the card to the teacher and places it face-down in the teacher’s hand (or in a designated “done” pile). Student immediately returns to the pile and picks up a new card. If no cards are left, students look for classmates who still have a card and help them finish. Teacher stops the timer when the last card is turned in. Class celebrates the total time and teamwork.
Objective Students practice a variety of locomotor skills while responding quickly to auditory cues (music start/stop) and a die roll. The game keeps everyone moving, builds listening skills, and creates high engagement through chance and re-entry opportunities. Equipment 4 cones (or poly spots) labeled 1, 2, 3, 4 — one in each corner of the activity area 1 large die (or digital die) Music player Optional: center circle or poly spots for the “middle” area Setup Mark four corners of the gym/space with numbered cones (1–4). Designate a clear “middle” area (center circle or marked zone). Establish a track/path around the outside of the space (use existing court lines if available). How to Play Students begin moving around the track using a designated locomotor skill (walk, speed walk, skip, gallop, jog, etc.) while music plays. When the music stops, students immediately go to the closest corner. Teacher (or a student leader) rolls the die: 1, 2, 3, or 4 → All students in that numbered corner go to the middle. 5 → Everyone does 5 repetitions of an exercise chosen by the teacher (jumping jacks, lunges, curl-ups, etc.). 6 → All students currently in the middle rejoin the game on the track. Students in the middle stay there and do Follow-the-Leader activities (led by teacher or a student) while the remaining students continue moving on the track when music starts again. Repeat rounds, changing the locomotor skill as desired.
1. Hula Hoop Jumpers One partner is the Hula Hooper, the other is the Jumper. The Hooper places the hoop flat on the ground in front of the Jumper. The Jumper jumps into the hoop with two feet. The Hooper immediately picks up the hoop and places it farther ahead. Partners continue this pattern until they reach the turning line, then switch roles and return. Give a time limit (e.g., 2 minutes) so students focus on success rather than racing. Emphasize: “Not a race — choose a distance your partner can jump successfully.” 2. Lily Pad Leapers One partner is the Leaper, the other(s) are the Lily Pad Movers. Movers place 2–3 poly spots (lily pads) in a line ahead of the Leaper. The Leaper leaps from pad to pad (cannot touch or move the pads). Movers pick up the back pad(s) and place them ahead of the Leaper. Continue to the turning line, then switch roles. Can be done with 2, 3, or 4 people (more movers = faster progress). Students choose leap distances that allow safe, controlled landings.
Teams of 6 students must cross the entire gym by standing only on the mats. They pass the mats over their heads (or slide/lift them) to move forward. When the first group of 6 reaches the opposite end, they pass the mats to a waiting group of 6 who then cross back to the starting side. No one may touch the floor. Great teamwork, communication, and problem-solving challenge!
Cones are scattered across the gym. Students roll their hula hoops toward the cones. If a hoop lands over (lassos) a cone, that student collects the cone and takes it back to their team’s home base. Play continues until all cones are gone. The team (or individual) with the most cones at the end is the winner. Great practice for underhand rolling accuracy, aiming, and fair play!
Description The class is split into two teams, one on each side of the gym. Each team starts with 3 hula hoop huts already built on their side. Players throw soft balls to try to knock down the other team’s huts. A knocked-down hut can be rebuilt by that team. If all 3 of a team’s huts are knocked down at the same time (before they can rebuild any), that team loses and the game is over. Great teamwork, throwing accuracy, defense, and quick rebuilding!
Players choose any open square in the gym as their home base and place their pin inside it. The goal is to knock over other players’ pins with soft balls while protecting your own. You may leave your square to get a ball, but you do so at your own risk — if your pin gets knocked down while you’re gone, you’re out. When a pin is knocked down, everyone yells “PIN DOWN!” That player takes their pin to the side of the gym they started on and joins the waiting line. The next person in line takes the pin, chooses any open square, sets it up, and jumps into the game. Non-stop action, throwing accuracy, decision-making, and constant movement!

Every student starts on a square (or a poly spot if there aren’t enough squares). Bean bags are scattered around the gym. Players slide bean bags along the floor (no throwing) trying to hit another player’s feet. If you get hit on the foot, you leave your square/spot and go to the side to do Panther Jumping Jacks or Panther Scissor Claps. After completing the exercise, you return to any open square or poly spot and rejoin the game. Constant movement, sliding accuracy, and no one sits out!
Students practice tossing and catching a bean bag with increasing challenge by following the video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKgIK88GKy0 First they toss the bean bag up and catch it with their hands 5 times in a row. Next they toss it up and catch it on their back 5 times successfully. Great hand-eye coordination, body awareness, and partner cooperation activity that keeps everyone moving and challenged!
