🦘 Jumping Stations (Heart Challenge Focus) — Exact 10 Stations + Pulse + All 6 Reflections

K-4
Time: 1/16 – 1/19 • Each station ~4 minutes
Students rotate through a variety of jumping stations to practice different takeoff/landing patterns while building cardiovascular endurance. End each session with a pulse-checking station and the reflection questions below.

Coach Odom’s Exact Station Rotation (10 Stations)

Hoop Jumping (Hop Scotch style) — One student at a time jumps hoop to hoop. Two-foot takeoff and two-foot landing. Land with quiet feet and balanced body (knees bent).
Jump Rope — Students practice any jump rope skill they know (or are learning).
Lateral Jumps — Jump laterally over a line or object. Toes must touch; both feet take off and land at the same time.
Agility Ladder — Hopping on one foot at a time (R/F) • Small jumps with both feet in every square • Lateral jumps • One-foot lateral jumps (R/L) • Scissor jumps
Noodle Jumping — Jump over noodles in a variety of ways: two-foot, single-foot, lateral, 360° turns.
Jumping Through a Hoop — Practice jumping through a hula hoop with one or two feet.
Spot Jumping — Leap from one spot to another, leading with one foot.
Long Jump Rope Practice — Group practice with long ropes (turners + jumpers).
Hurdles — Jump over hurdles with both feet. Land softly with knees bent to absorb force.
Pulse Checking Station — Students check their pulse before/after activity. Discuss changes in heart rate and breathing.
TEKS Focus: Jumping skills (1.G, 1.M) • Moderate to vigorous activity (2nd 3.B) • Effects of exercise on heart rate/breathing (K-4.4A) • Long-term heart benefits (3rd 4.A) • Perseverance (3rd 7.B).
Character Focus: Perseverance (especially when a new jumping pattern is hard) and stewardship of our bodies. Students learn that taking care of their heart through movement is a daily choice that pays off over time.
