Character Focus
Self-control, listening, and responsibility. The transition from social walk-and-talk to quiet focused stretching teaches students to switch gears and be ready to learn. Spelling “PANTHERS” builds school pride.

TEKS Alignment

  • TEKS: K-4.1C (non-locomotor), K-4.2 (body control & safety), fitness components.

5E Lesson Plan

engage
Engage: “Ready Exercise – spell PANTHERS!” with big energy jumping jacks to start the stretch routine with school spirit.
explore
🔍 Explore: Students follow along with each stretch using the exact verbal cues while teacher demonstrates form.
explain
📖 Explain: Proper form for each (e.g. quiet counts, full range, knees bent on squats). Why we stretch (injury prevention, focus). Kinder skips last three exercises.
elaborate
🚀 Elaborate: Add balance challenges during ankle rolls or figure 4. Link specific stretches to locomotor skills practiced on the track. End with brain break “PE This or That” (~5 min YouTube) before main activity.
evaluate
✅ Evaluate: Observe form, participation, and ability to follow multi-command sequence. Debrief: “Which stretch helped your legs after the track?”
